  • pdf preview is broken on safari

    Hey guys!
Having issues with .pdf files preview on a safari browser.

Check out the screenshot, I checked on another browser, works fine, I also checked another website as a dummy file, it works,
problem only in ESPO with Safari.

Different versions of Safari tested. 16 and 17.

Tested on both type of PDF? domPDF and (I forgot the other one, TCPPDF?)?

Does it only effect EspoCRM PDF or all PDF?

Can you download it and open the PDF file locally and still get same bad result?

Can you re-save the file using another PDF file and open it again in Safari, any different result?

Hi, this is just a document or a stream message, same thing, same issue

      >Does it only effect EspoCRM PDF or all PDF?
EspoCRM, I tested other websites, ok

      >Can you download it and open the PDF file locally and still get same bad result?
Nope, it works good after downloaded

      >Can you re-save the file using another PDF file and open it again in Safari, any different result?
It works fine, except when being viewed from espocrm in Safari

Please help, bug persists, 10 out of 10.

31 seconds that shows everything on a video. Sorry for external noise.

            Hi Russ,

            disable cache in admin section.
            clear cache in admin section
            clear cache in safari

then try to download and give info if file is corrupt when download.

I bet it is Safari's issue but they are not resolving it and at the same time, dummy .pdf link from w3schools or amazon s3 works just fine, can't we do something?

              Thanks

Try that dummy pdf to view from Espo. I don't think I can help here. Espo just returns PDF file. It's not a feature that we can fix somehow.

I did it on the video above, same .pdf, opens fine on w3.org and not in espo

                  Thanks

Maybe because Espo uses stream downloading: https://github.com/espocrm/espocrm/b...nload.php#L107

                      I can't check now as I don't have Safari.

I can't look into this issue at the moment and the nearest future. If you or someone else could try to figure out what is the cause of the problem and how to make it work in Safari, I'd appreciate. Any help, input appreciated.

                            Hi Russ,

Tested identical scenario on Safari 16.5.1/Ventura 13.4.1, with Dompdf and Tcpdf engines, works as expected.
