  • Linkage between Contact and Opportunity

    Dear Espo CRM Community,

I have been using Espo CRM for a while and I love it!

I however would like to do something that I wasn't able to figure out myself.

I have a custom attribute called "Language" under Contacts.

When I create an opportunity I always link it with a Contact. However in the List view I cannot add the Language custom attribute.

Could you please help me with this?

    Thank you.

    Best Regards,

    Charlie

    Hi charliek,

Each Entity has its own list view. That is, for the List view of Contacts, we display the Contact fields we need, and on the List view of Opportunities, we display only the fields of Opportunities.

That is, most likely you are asking about List (Small), which is in the Administration > Entity Manager > Contact > Layouts > List (Small) (as shown in screenshot 1).

And that's where you add the required fields so that they are visible when you create an Opportunity and select a Contact for it in the Contacts field. Note that the Language field must be selected for the Contact in advance, because in the List (Small) mode for the Opportunities you can simply select the Contact with the previously specified data (as shown in screenshot 2).

      Hi victor,

      Thank you for your answer.

I think I wasn't specific enough on this.

What I would like to do is the following:

I have the Language custom attribute in the Contacts entity.

In the Opportunities entity, List view, I can put Contact to show up, however I also would like to have the Language (the custom attribute from the Contact) show up as well.

This is so that if I export the Opporunities List view into Excel, I would like to see like Contact -> Joe Blow, Language -> Irish.

      Thank you for your help!

      Best Regards,

      Charlie

        Hi Charlie,

I think what you are looking for is a foreign field.

          Hi Kharg,

          Thank you very much!

YES, that is exactly what I was looking for!

Genius system! Everything is thought of!

Thank you very much once again for your help!

          Best Regards,
          Charlie

            Hi Kharg,

            Okay, actually almost there.

The Language now shows up in the list view of Opportunities, but when I export to Excel the field for Language is empty.

The Language attribute is assigned as Multi-Enum in the Contacts entity.

            Any idea?

            Best Regards,

            Charlie

              Hi @charliek,

Perhaps you did not select the foreign type field before exporting Opportunities?
I tested it myself - everything works.

                Dear Victor,

                Thank you.

                I had done that.

I do get the field is just empty.

I think I might need to update Espo CRM because I'm using a version from 2021.

Your interface seems more modern based on the screenshots than mine.

I'll double check that my settings were all perfect and if still don't work, schedule in an update.

Perhaps the version I'm using (version 6.1.0) is the problem.

                Best Regards,

                Charlie

                  Hello Charlie,
I can confirm it's working with Multi-Enum fields on 7.2.6.

Maybe you just need to update your instance.

                    Hi Kharg,

Yes! That was the problem. I had harder time as my PHP version was 7.2 but I managed to update my PHP and so updating Espo CRM to the latest version allowed me to properly export the grid!

Thank you for your and Victors help!

                    Best Regards,
                    Charlie
