Add file Extension to files in data upload folder

I would like to see file extensions added to the data upload folder.
reason - with other systems I would normally do clean up and compression with various file types.
1 For example - I would like to reduce the size of PDF files using a program called ORPALIS PDF Reducer Pro however it relies on file extensions.

I also rely on file extensions to perform scheduled compression of uploaded files. Having file extentions exposed would be of great help, as it would make in-place optimization possible.

Not having file extensions is a one of security measures and it's very important. So it will never will be implemented.

One can implement a custom storage. It's like a few minutes of coding. But it wouldn't recommend doing so.
