It's doable. It require some development but it can be done. Portals are great, simple and powerfull. Emails can be sent through hooks or advanced pack.

Companies contract with us to do development work and we need to provide them with the details of our work. This is currently done on a separate website but the portal of EspoCRM seems to be perfect for this as long as a full width (collapsible?) dashlet can be made for each project. Would also love an email to be sent to participants when the content is edited.
