  • EspoCRM for education

    Hi,

I am new to CRM's and have tried several, we are a small training provider so we just need something to keep on top of the learners journey, so enquiry (Lead) -> contact from office (Opportunity) -> signed up (Customer) -> complete/exited.

Looking here https://www.espocrm.com/industries/education/ this looks like something EspoCRM should do well, however, when I have installed it, it looks nothing like the education version. How do I change it so it is the same/similar? I couldn't find anywhere to rename the Defaults.

    Hi Scuzzier,

Opportunity and Lead, for example, are EspoCRM's default entities.

To use the version for keeping on top of the learners journey, you need to correct the existing entities or create new ones in the Administration > Entity Manager.
You can learn more about working with entities in EspoCRM in the official documentation:
    https://docs.espocrm.com/administration/entity-manager/.

I also strongly recommend that you read the tips and watch some videos for using EspoCRM:

Considering doing this myself. From the education page I was also reading, same as the OP here, it appears that calendar meetings have been either renamed to Courses, or a new entity based on calendar meetings was created to do the job. I'm trying to brainstorm what entity the Course Module example was based on. . .

It looks like the Course Modules entity is based on the Case entity.

I am also interested in using EspoCRM for education as in https://www.espocrm.com/industries/education/. I created new custom entities student, course and teacher. I have problem in creating the correct relationship between teacher-course (many-to-many, I guess), student-course (many-to-many?). For example, having created a many-to-many relationship with courses in the student entity, I would expect a student dropdown list in the course card so that I could enroll students to that course but there is only a text field to enter the name of student (I suppose). Also, in the student card there isn't any field where I can choose the courses which the student will attend. So, I am doing some mistakes but I don't know where. Do you have any suggestions? Are there any demo or document which I can use to replicate the customization of EspoCRMas seen in the link I posted?

          Thank you.

Besides the relationships, which themselves create the linked fields, you must create all the fields, that you need for your entities. Many-to-many relationships as per default only provide entity.id and entity.name. So if you need more fields from the related entities you will have to code or use an extension like Link Multiple Pro from Eblasoft.
The fields you will have to add to your layout in the layout manager, where you can see, that relationships appear in both of the related entities as fields.

I guess you did not work too much with espoCRM, but for sure you can realise such course administration. It needs a bit understanding and learning, but you will be paid with lots of success moments and being able to create something, that - in my opinion - no other CRM is capable of. And all this without necessarily to be a developer.

If you need help, don`t hesitate to ask here, even the perhaps most obvious questions and answers. This here is a very friendly forum.
