What configuration problems you ran into when installing Espo?

I have noticed an increased number of feedback reports from potential users struggling to install Espo for the first time. As such reports are often anonymous, it's not possible to know what exact issues the user struggled with. Usually such reports lack of details.

Would be good to know the problem points to cover them in the guidelines better. Please share what issues you ran into while installing Espo.

P.S. Maybe such an increased number of installation issues could be attributed to use of LLMs – now people rely on AI rather than docs.

If you find EspoCRM good, we would greatly appreciate if you could give the project a star on GitHub. We believe our work truly deserves more recognition. Thanks.

I almost never have issues installing, but I have had several issues while updating. I think that some better documentation around upgrading and troubleshooting upgrade issues could help.

So far I only install on normal hosting, never any problems from the install process. During the last years I installed at least 100 times.
In the beginning I also installed locally (XAMPP, UNIServer and alike), as well no problems caused by the install process.

I’m having trouble installing the software. I’ve tried playing with it a bit but when I attempted to install it using nginx, I kept getting a 500 error and some fonts weren’t displaying. I’ll give it another go tomorrow before I give up. I’m not sure if I need to install it on Apache or Nginx.

Please feel free to create a separate topic in the Installation an Upgrade help section.

Both Apache and Nginx are fine. The former may be bit easier to set up with "AllowOverride All" enabled.
