Incoming Emails

Please explain how the incoming email is matched with the lead? We have a case when a letter came from an address that is not in the system and was attached to a lead that has different email. Is there a way to check that everything is correct or is it a bug?

probably the lead's email was bbc into the email. still it shouldn't happen hence the email coming to is not in the system. try to check records in db
