Upgrade safe customization trough admin UI

All UI change should be safe, it only when you start playing with code that you have issue.

If you do have an issue then it would be a Bug (Report) and not a code debugging (which you won't receive full support for).

Any field that is mandatory that can be remove through GUI can be changed (e.g. Contacts don't always need to have an Account), any field that must be require you can't disable it through GUI, must be done through changing code (e.g. Last Name field of contact)

Starting customizing some details trough admin UI such as layouts selecting from available fiekds or the Entity manager adding a few one or changing the mandatory status.
Wondering if all these UI based "parametrizations" are upgrade safe.
