Import data in the flow field

What is a "flow" field? Currently only CSV file is supported for importing. Which is quite standard. CSV is essential a text file I suppose. If you want any other type of Importing it have to be done via some Hook or API at this stage.

I would like to know if there is a possibility to import data in text format within the flow field as if it were a post.
