Field Conditions - "NOT IN" not working properly?

Just curious if this has been resolved as of yet since I did not see it specifically in the release notes. Currently running version 5.3.6

Will be fixed. You can utilize NOT + Contains separately as a workeround.

I ran into this problem on my CRM so I tested the DEMO site.
I have a field with conditions making it required, The "NOT IN" function here doesn't seem to have any affect and doesn't appear to be working as it should.
Am I perhaps using this incorrectly?
