If you find EspoCRM good, we would greatly appreciate if you could give the project a star on GitHub. We believe our work truly deserves more recognition. Thanks.

I think version 5.6 is still more widely used.

Welcome to the MariaDB monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MariaDB connection id is 65153
        Server version: 10.1.26-MariaDB-0+deb9u1 Debian 9.1

is it a "must" to espocrm's functionning to lock its install at mysql 5.7 version?

Quite an old thread. I'm on MariaDB too so wouldn't know issue with MySQL.

Yes, minimum requirement is 5.7, if you try to install on lower version it get error. I think in EspoCRM v7, MySQL5.7 might get obsolete. I know PHP 5 was no longer supported after EspoCRM v6

                See here for requirement https://docs.espocrm.com/administrat.../#requirements

Do you know what is the reason for v5.7 requirement? and WHY it wouldn't work with 5.6?
i'm on a shared server .. on OVH, which doesn't seem to be ready to be upgraded to 5.7, unfortunately (I won't change my hosting plan now)

That is a question for the developer to be able to answer, my guess is that the coding changed, code that only usable in 5.7 but not 5.6.

You might as well just stay with an older version of EspoCRM until you can update or willing to change server.
