Opt-out doesn't seem to work, but maybe I'm doing it wrong

I created a few test accounts and contacts and then assigned them to a Target List. That worked fine, but the "Opted Out" relationship doesn't seem to know about the email addresses I manually opted out by clicking the button in the respective profiles.

As you can see, the opt_out field is set in the database:





and both email addresses are listed in the Target List relationship views:




Am I doing something wrong? I was expecting to see something in the Opted Out section.

I don't understand what that means. What is the point of the opt out button in the user/account detail panel and the associated column in the database if the target list "Opted Out" panel doesn't reflect that opt out status? How would anything ever show up in that panel and how is it supposed to work? There's no mention of any of this in the documentation.
