    Problem with partial search

There is something very annoying with the search function at the top right of the pages. If an company or contact has a long name, searching for a partial part of the name fails.

Here is an example and a video:

We have an account with name "imprimerie du bocage". In the case where I cannot remember the full name, I might try to search for a unique part of the name like "bocage". This search fails. The only search that succeeds is a search that includes the first part of the name or the full name. In this case, the first part of the name is not unique and I receive many many hits.

    Here is a video:

Is there a setting which controls how search functions?

Add Account or other entity you need in Administration > Settings > General > Search > Global Search Entity List: And check Use 'contains' operator when filtering varchar fields.

We ask not to use "very annoying" in bug report rules. Not using such a language establishes a respectful tone conducive for collaboration.

        1. Likely you need to enable full-text search for the Account entity type.
        2. Use wildcard when needed.

It's a documented behavior. Your example works fine for me with full-text search enabled (MariaDB).

The search is processed in the database. We don't have full control over how the database processes full text search. This is not a bug.
