How to connect the phone number to Whatsapp

Hi,

I have this interesting (I am sure it is common) request from my user. He is a marketing staff. After he has created a Lead, when the need arises, he want to click the Lead's phone number link and connect to Whatsapp Web. We are using version 9.1.7 at the moment. Please help.

Hi,

The phone links are in "tel:{number}" format. It's possible to choose the application that will be used to open such links. It must be done in OS (Windows should have such a parameter in settings). But I don't think it's possible to open WhatsApp Web, though it should be possible to open in WhatsApp Desktop. This will be applied for the whole PC.

Thank you for the advise and help. I found a solution in YouTube as below:

(1) Instead of using the standard "Phone" field, I creates a varchar field called "Whatsapp Number" to capture the Whatsapp number of the target user
(2) I created another read-only field called "Connecr to Whatsapp" of url type.



(2) I created a formula for the "Connecr to Whatsapp" field as follows:

$whatsappNumber = string\trim(cWhatsappNumber);
cWhatsappConnect = string\concatenate("https://wa.me/", $whatsappNumber);

This works great. Now i am trying to make this "Connecr to Whatsapp" into a button.

You can try this extension. This will create a field which you can configure and add any number to open Web WhatsApp. This extension developed by Ashif Malayil
