    Groups or lists of contacts

Is there an... elegant way to add contacts in groups or lists? I'd like to be able to have overlapping groups of contacts so I can filter for, say, "Trusted Customers," or "Repeat business" or "Friends/Family" etc. And then I can get a list of those contacts to segment them out for creating event lists or tasks or the like. I can create a 'Contact Group' entity, but there's no way to use that as a filter in the Contacts display areas. Is this something that can be done that I'm missing (I'm still somewhat new to this CRM, and we're still evaluating it, but I love its extensibility), or is this a "I'll need to add an extension" scenario?

probabely you can use something similar to category tree (only with) similar to target list and categories or Knowledge base Categories and Knowledge base Article.

Do you mean having filters like this?

Out of the box, a user can store filters. These filters won't be available for other users though. There are two solutions to having global filters: to create a filter manually (there were guidelines on the forum) or use the report filter feature from the Advanced Pack.

      The scheme is the following:

      1. Some entity is used to categorize contacts. I'd use the Target List.
      2. Filters created to list only contacts related to the specific category.

One other question -- somewhat related: when I am creating a Target List, it asks for a Category (with a select box), but I can't see anywhere to edit Target List Categories. Is this a future feature thing? Or am I missing something obvious?

On the Target Lists page, in the menu on the right, there's "Manage Categories". There are also a few additional ways to reach it.

Note that if you logged as a regular user and your user does not have access to the Target List Categories scope, you won't be able to see categories.
