Kanban View custom status field

When I switch on Kanban View for an entity, some fields are provided to function as status fields. What is this depending on?
I would like to have a custom field (an order number) as active status field. Is that possible?

as long as it is an enum field then it should work fine.

thanks rabii, unfortunately it is an integer. But now I understand at least the condition for a field to appear in the possible status fields for Kanban.
I changed the integer to enum with numbers as options and this way it works. I can reorder now in Kanban View.
