Simplest way to set a follow up reminder when logging a call or email?

If we log a call or email, is there an easy way to setup a follow up reminder at that same time aside from finishing up logging the call/email, then going back out and scheduling a task to remind to follow up? We are using the self hosted version without any paid addons if that matters.
