Changing, or disabling menu icons?

Is there a method of changing the left hand icons instead of manually editing the associated files? For instance, opportunities is a dollar sign, but I'd prefer my local currency icon, or an option to turn off all icons

In the GUI you can do this for each individual entity in Administration > Entity Manager > Your_entity_name > Edit > Icon:

You are a star - Thankyou Victor! I've been on that entity manager screen for a good hour, not realising I can just click edit. Been searching the forums too thinking there must be an easier way!
