[Free Extension] Better Columns: resize, pin, reorder and hide list columns

Hi everyone,

I built this extension "Better Columns" because I wanted a better way (for me) to manage columns in EspoCRM.

It lets each user adjust the columns of EspoCRM list views for themselves.
Nothing changes for other users, and the administrator's layouts stay untouched.

What it does:

• Resize a column by dragging its border, or double-click the border to fit it to its content
• Fit all columns from the Columns menu
• Reorder columns by dragging their headers
• Pin as many columns as you need to the left: they stay in place while the rest of the table scrolls
• Hide the columns you don't use, and show them again from the Columns menu
• Reset order, widths, pins and visibility in one click

Your layout is saved in your browser, so it's still there when you come back.

Administrators can turn it on for all lists, only for administration lists, or per entity (for example, only Leads and Accounts).

You can download better-columns-1.1.0.zip from the latest release.

Hi Alexis, this seems to be a great extension. One question: you write, the user`s configuration is saved in the browser. But does this not mean, after deleting the history of the browser, they will be gone?
And I guess, it will not be possible for an user to add a column, the admin did not put into the list layout, right?

Hi,

The personal column configuration (widths, order, pins, etc.) is stored in the browser via EspoCRM’s client-side storage, which uses localStorage (not cookies).
Clearing only your browsing history does not remove it.
However, clearing the site’s data / cookies and site data in your browser for your EspoCRM domain will remove these preferences.
These settings are local to the current browser and device. It's not synced to the server or other computers. If you want to reset them without clearing all site data, you can use the “Reset order, widths, pins and visibility” option in the Columns menu.


And for the columns available, exactly, it's not possible to add a column that the admin did not allow in the entity manager.

I think this looks good and will be a very useful extension - thanks.

One question: I am using a custom bottom panel layout with tabs for contacts, activities, history, cases, etc. The extension works fine with contacts and cases but not with activities and history. I noticed that column headings are not being displayed on my activities and history tabs - should your extension work with those two entities?
