When an email related to a case is answered the case number is not written to the subject line. This means that a subsequent reply cannot be automatically assigned to the case

Did you test? It doesn't rely only on the case number. It reads specific email header (hidden from end-user) in order to relate imported emails.If you find EspoCRM good, we would greatly appreciate if you could give the project a star on GitHub.
