I noticed the same thing today, in my case it's the letter “ß”.
But after checking, the other German characters don't work either.
284 results in 0.0432 seconds.

With Kharg's help, I found the extension that was causing the problems.
It was the “Ebla PWA Mobile App & Notification” from Ebl... -
