MySQL or MariaDB?

What DB do you use MySQL or MariaDB? Why?

Used MariaDB because that what is imposed upon by my Hosted/Server provider.

Performance wise can't really tell much of any difference since our CRM is relatively small compare to other that I have seen.

There is plenty of guide out there to show what the difference between the two, from my memory, mySQL is not free and you need a license to use it. Whereas MariaDB is free and opensource?
