  • SQLSTATE[HY000] [2006] MySQL server has gone away

I have Espo installed on our test bed. It was working fine. Ubuntu 18.04, PHP 7.2 and mySQL 5.7. I upgraded to mysql 8 and Espo started giving Bad Server Response. I closed my Espo tab in the browser and reopened. Then I got a blank page with just the Espo copyright notice at the bottom. I decided to reinstall Espo. When I get to the Test Connection screen I get the above error. I am using mysql_native_password so I know that is not the problem. How do I resolve this?

    TIA

    Scott

SQLSTATE[HY000] [2006] MySQL server has gone away - I think this error is from old instance
What error do you get while testing connection on the new instance?

I have checked there is only on instance of MySQL running on my machine and it is version 8.0.12. I have also manually logged in with my espouser to make sure password was correct.

      What else could it be?

      TIA

I have also deleted and recreated the espouser. No change.

OK. I have now tried on a fresh VM with just the LAMP stack installed. Tried to install Espo, same error.

          TIA

Do you use the latest version of EspoCRM, 5.4.3?

I really need to get this solved. I need functionality that is only available in MySQL 8 and I would like to avoid running two versions of MySQL.
                        Any help?

any valuable records in mysql log?
I don't have MySQL 8, so can't try to reproduce, but want to find a hook

There are no entries in error.log and the general log gives only this entry when I try to connect:

2018-10-25T16:53:33.528006Z 8 Connect espouser@localhost on SNA using Socket

Should this conversation be moved to Bug Reports?
