Parse a "case" to pick the email?

What would be the proper way to check if such email based contact exists, if no pull Name/Email, create a contact, relate the contact to the case, if exists, just relate?

• create a contact if there is no contact with this name/email: https://docs.espocrm.com/administrat.../#recordcreate,
• relate a contact to a case if a contact with the same name/email exists: https://docs.espocrm.com/administrat.../#recordupdate.

I can utilize string\match and string\matchExtract functions for parsing. https://docs.espocrm.com/administration/formula/string/#stringmatch

I can understand Record\ formula will work, but how does String\Match work. My brain can't comprehend.
