  • Linking multiple Opportunities to a single Lead record

Hello everybody and i wish you all a good day

Recently, i observed that once you converted a Lead to an Oppty, they will be linked. However if i change the status of the Lead back to New so i can re-Convert it again, the previous Oppty record got unlinked

Thus, i would like to ask is there any workaround this behavior ? Currently im using the Online version with Advanced Pack

kraskru if you're using cloud version of EspoCRM, then you don't have access to files and you can't do anything in files.
You can try to override this behaviour through AdvancedPack maybe.. Hmm..

I created for tests lead and opportunity through converting option. After that i changed status and create another one. i think you could create new relation between opportunities and leads, and create script in workflow which will relate opportunity(through this new relation) if field originalLeadId is filled. After that you can get bottom panel in lead and see all opportunities.

This convert functionality was prepared in way which allow assign only one opportunity to lead. You can try to override this, but i'm not sure is that a good idea.

emillod Thank you for the response. I have tried a workaround which satisfied the scenario. However, the report got impacted with another issue. Guess we will have to stick to the logic where one Lead could only create one Oppty.

In this case you should adjust report to use different relation.

emillod Thank you for your suggestion
Currently we are working to finalize our sales module using Lead, Oppty and Contacts
Could you please provide us the out-of-box sales funnel for EspoCRM?
I understood that Lead > Oppty and/or Contact. But ideally, when should we convert the Lead to Contact, should it be after the Oppty got Closed/Won or before that?

If i understand correctly, you should first create lead, and if he interested, you should convert him to contact and then create opportunity assigned to contact.
It's far from ideal, because for example in IT business, first we're talking with lead about what he need and we convert him to client only if he agree on terms and estimate.
We created custom relation between opportunities and leads for that.

And then you can create a custom hook which will search for opportunities assigned to specific lead after you convert lead to contact and this hook will assign to opportunity also account/contact.

Much more dep[end on your business policy, how you work with your clients.
