New event entity

I created a new top level entity of type Event via the entity manager. A new section for the entity appeared as expected where I am able to create new events of the new type. However I was also expecting these event to appear in the calendar but they do not. Also in the calendar view, I was expecting a new radio button of the new type in the side screen which appears when creating a new event directly in the calendar (in addition to call, meeting, task) but it does not.

Is this a bug, non-implemented feature, or a dumb-user error? ;-)
