Alias in URL field possible?

I think the URL/website field only support limited protocol (HTTPS only?); it doesn't even support any other protocol.

Text field will give you the most freedom. Or WYSIGY field if you want even more formatting.

I think it's not possible without additional coding.
You could create notStorable field which would take only part of original field and show an alias.

Is it possible to show in an URL field instead of the complete URL an alias or do I have to use in that case a text field with markup possibility?
Or formula?
