send emails only to the primary email address

I wanted to ask if it's possible to make it so the automated emails through the workflows or script tasks are being sent only to the primary email in the email field?

Sorry for the delayed reply. Just returned from vacation.

As far as I know, the system uses the primary email address for 'toEmailAddress' by sending emails. Do you have some other system behaviour?
