Seperate Option for Email notifications about posts and status updates

Is there any way to separate the Preference for "Email notifications about posts and status updates" so that one can choose either "Posts" and/or "Status Updates". If a manager wants to monitor something, they may only want to be notified when the Status changes and not with every Post. With the current combined option they get many emails if there are many posts.

As far as I know, there is no such an ability to do it via UI. You need to change a code.

Unfortunately you can only select what you what to show on notification but you can't separate or filter them.

I'm getting spam by my email notification and feel like turning it off.
