Extend Activities Menu Entry

Is there a simple way to add additional entries into the Activites menu?

For example, when viewing a Case, is there any way of adding an entry as follows:

Compose Email
Schedule Meeting
Schedule Call
Schedule Something Else

My guess is that I need to do some Javascript wizardry rather than a simple JSON change addition?

Anything yet? I want to change the name from meeting to showing, is there a way? should I creates a new post?
