Assignment E-mails

I've seen on the forum that spl files control the system generated emails. I'm wanting to add more information to the email, instead of just name with "View" links. Are there a list of fields we can add to the the spl file, or is there a way to edit these in the system?

I 5.5 version it will be possible to edit templates.
