convert a lead to contact

Hi, when I want to convert a lead to contact or account, is there a way to avoid recreating/rewrite all the information (copy ? duplication ?) ?
I use the free version.

Yes. There is a button Convert in the top-right corner on the lead view.

Yes, conversion works nicely, but the question was if it is possible to avoid duplication of information, i.e., to simply change the status of "lead" to the "contact" -> Now what really happens is that the system makes a new instance on the system.
Then there is a confusing situation that you have the same name as "lead" and "contact".
-> Could it be possible to have a status flag for a name ?
(Just like opportunities have status flags)
