  • Mass emails linked to Account were not sent to the Contacts of the Account

    Hello,

I am currently testing EspoCRM and so far so good! It looks pretty neat.
One thing I don't yet understand is the newsletter functionality.

    What I did:
    - Create account
    - Add 3 contacts (with email addresses) in said account
    - Create target list
    - Add my previously created account (with the 3 contacts) to this target list (and here I thought that this target list would then propagate to my account's contacts - and I might be wrong)
    - Create campaign (type: newsletter)
    - Add target list to this campaign

Waited for 15min past the hour (so the cron is launched) for mass email, but nothing was sent. I see that my mass email has been "Completed" but no emails were sent/received. Did I simply do it wrong somewhere? I expected this email to be sent to those 3 contacts that are linked to an account which is itself linked to the target list.
Some extra information in case it makes sense:
    - The log of the campaign says one mail was sent (it was a "send test" email and it worked), and one was opened. Perfectly right.
    - The Scheduled Jobs - Jobs says all cron jobs have ran, so it should be fine.

    Thanks the help!!

    Hello Yoann,

if your Target List contains only account, email will be sent only to account email address.
If you want emails to contacts as well, these contacts have to be in this target list as well.

    Regards,
    Tanya

      Hi Tanya,
Thanks for the quick answer. So I was wrong and I realize why now... I started a second test and will wait 10 more minutes to see if that works.
However, another question, if I add tomorrow a new Contact to that Account, there is no way that this new person will receive those emails unless I had her/him also in the target list, correct? Is there an easier solution than to add those contacts at 2 places? Or is there a way to add the contacts in a group that then becomes the target list?
      Thanks!
      Yoann

        Hi,
yes, new contact has to be in this target list as well.

        1. You can try to copy primary Account target lists to contact with Formula. https://www.espocrm.com/documentatio...ation/formula/
        2. You can develop a hook https://www.espocrm.com/documentatio...lopment/hooks/

You can automate this process with Advanced Pack extension:
        1) you can sync you Reports with Target Lists https://www.espocrm.com/video/reports-and-analytics/
        2) you can try to copy Account target list to contact with Workflow https://www.espocrm.com/video/workfl...n-in-business/
