Link lead sourceAccount field to existing Account

How do we add a field to the lead that is an Account selectable field. We want to be able to track which existing Account referred the lead to us.
I thought I would go to entity manager, lead -> fields, add a foreign field, but only limited field available to link to.

create a new readOnly field and you set it with formula.

So, there is no way to have a "Account" selectable field in a lead record? I tried creating a relationship, but it's not showing up in the entity fields or layout fields.
What type of read-only field, varchar?
How does the formula language up date it from a selectable list of accounts?

I figured it out.
1. I watched the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDSTMNFZPLE, skip to 8:06 into the video and watch the relationship building part.
I've used relationships before I was just being braindead about the relation ship order.
2. Once you build the relationship you will need to go to the Layout Manager and place the new field where you want it on the form.
