Account table update after creation

If i create a account, and after that want to upadate a field of account table, where to write the code?

Why do you want to modify data directly in database, not with orm?

Actually, I have field 'timezone' in Account. When a user create a account, I have to update the timezone field respect to the billing address state(usa).

You can do it before record saved. With formula or with hooks
