When to populate account Id and/or account_contact

Hi,

I'm populating the database using ETL, I notice that Contact has filed accountId and there is also an entity called account_contact, do I need to populate both of these?

You need to populate both of these places. contact > accountId contains id of primary account. The table account_contact contains all relations
