    fields in import selection for contacts: why accountName and how to change fields?

    hi there,

    I want to import contacts via CSV. On import I choose contacts, the file and the separator. Then the next screen shows the fields. I wan to set the company name (company does not yet exist). The only choice I have is accountName.

    two problems with this:
    1) I do want to have accounts as I import contacts not leads. So how can I get the accounts field to show up in import.
    2) Even when choosing accountName there is no import.

    an additional question on import update: Do I have to import all fields or just the fiel I want to update?

    You can't create accounts while importing contacts. The correct way is to import the same csv twice - first as accounts and then as contacts. The second run creates the relation between accounts and contacts via the field 'accountName'.

    When starting the import process you can define whether you want to create, create and update or just update. For updates you must use the correct id though (AFAIK)
