Creation of documents and articles do not open in the full form (detail window)

When creating contacts, accounts, leads, etc. you can click on the Create {Entity} button and the full form (detail window) will open for you to create your contact, account, lead, etc.; however when you click on Create Document or Create Article buttons, the smaller form (detail small) will open instead of the full form. Was this made on purpose or was it an oversight? If it was on purpose, is there a reason why it doesn't follow the same process as the other Create buttons?

On purpose. You can edit list view class and disable this option.
