Allow Dashboard Template assignment on Portal level, not only on Portal User level

Please consider allowing Dashboard Templates to be assigned directly on the Portal level, not only on the Portal User level.

This would make administration much easier, especially when multiple portal users should use the same dashboard by default. Administrators could configure the dashboard once for the whole portal instead of setting it separately for each user.

It would also be useful to allow individual Portal User overrides when needed.

    Thank you.

The dashboard is configured per portal since the early days.

I know that it can be configured, but my request is to enable usage of templates, not a stand alone configuration, as it is now. Or I don’t see how to apply template to portal?

In the initial post it states "Administrators could configure the dashboard once for the whole portal instead of setting it separately for each user" which aligns with what already is possible. An administrator can configure the layout for a portal once.

Adding Dashboard Template support does not provide that much benefit other than for cases where many portals are used with the same layout. I think it's rare case.

It will introduce an additional separate source for the layout. What to do with the previous source? Remove it? Then we need to do migration. If we remove it, it will be harder for an administrator to configure the layout as they will need to create a separate entry to link it with the portal. If it leave it, then which the source to consider as primary? How it won't confuse administrator to have two sources.

It's not that easy to add features. I think it's the case when it's better to leave it as it is now.
