What is level of functionality in Project Management extension

    Hi yuri ,

I reviewed the functionalities of the Project Management extension and, based on the level of documentation, I feel that it may be well suited for simple level project management skills. This view is preliminary only. We have a client, a construction company, that needs to implement a full blown system for CRM, Document Management and Project Management. We already have Espocrm for CRM and we have created a full blown DMS system using ESPOCRM. We are now reviewing the PM Extension for use.

My question is how close, in terms of functionality, is the extension to tools like MS Project? Appreciate your advise. Based on your advise, we might propose the extension for start (the client is using Excel currently) and scale up to a professional tool like MS Project based on their competency growth.

    Hi,

It's bit difficult for me to fairly compare with MS Project as I haven't used it. MS Project has more features for sure, our extension may be not the best fit for more complex cases where resource planning and budgeting are crucial. Though we are likely to consider adding more features in the future, if there will be requests. The current features of the extension are quite fully covered in the docs. If something is not very clear, we can try to explain in more detail, please ask if something is not clear.

We've been using the Project Management tool internally for a while and it's been a big improvement in workflows for us, hard to image to work without it now. Before, we used another SaaS PM solution.

The major improvement in our workflows is attributed to the fact that now there's no switches between the two systems (CRM and PM).

Another improvement, is the flexible project-level access control . As now, a person who has restricted permissions in the CRM, can have high permission in a particular project.

yuri thank you for the update. I realized all that you have stated. My question is to confirm my concerns. We have bought the extension as would fit for the client's PMs who have very little experience in using advance PM Tools like MS Project.

Just one more question. As PM, i would like to assign non-human resources to a task. e.g 3,000 floor titles @ cost of $30,000 to a task "Laying floor tiles for low-cost condo units". Assigning this resource to the task and on completing the task will help the PM to trigger billing process to their client.

      Appreciate your advise. Thank you.
