Getting Started with EspoCRM: Tips for New Users

Hello everyone,

I’m new to EspoCRM and wanted to share my first impressions as well as get advice from the community. I’ve been exploring the platform to understand how it can help manage customer relationships, automate workflows, and improve overall business efficiency.

So far, I find the interface intuitive, and the flexibility of custom entities and workflows really useful. However, as a new user, I’d love to learn about tips or best practices for organizing data, setting up automation, and using the platform efficiently in real-world scenarios.

If anyone has suggestions for first-time users, recommended features to explore, or common pitfalls to avoid, I’d really appreciate your guidance. Looking forward to learning and contributing to the forum discussions.

Hi,
there is certainly a learning curve. Not so steep, but because of these many possibilities, it will need time, until you will use it to the fullest. Sometimes you will see, that a former approach with a bit of work, has to be revised, as you get to know more about the system. So, sometimes starting over.
After 6 years ov intensive use of espoCRM I would name a few things to consider from the beginning:

1. Think thoroughly about your custom entities and how you structure them.
2. Name everything in english: entities, fields, relationships, formulas. It helps later to put other languages.
3. When you search for problem resolving using this forum, search with google. It finds more and faster possible solutions, as the search function of this forum is not that good.
4. If your search does not find a solution, ask here. It is the nicest forum, I found so far over the years.
5. If you find a solution yourself, post it here to help others.
6. Always update your instance as soon as there is an update provided.
7. You can extend espoCRM, when you have coding skills. If not, you can go far with the formula script buit in the app.

It is fun to work with espoCRM and you will have always successful results. It is very satisfying to work with this app.
