Hello. Are there any plans to add projects (outside of the paid module) in any form in the future? Or subtasks within tasks?

If there is a paid extension, i would say based on experience from the past, that there will be no free version. Maybe someone else will create a free version.
Basically you can create your own entities via admin section.

I'd buy the module if it were a one-time payment—we don't buy software on a subscription basis. I know I can create my own, but my knowledge isn't sufficient for such a module.

As an alternative, you can uti;ize the Entity Manager to build your own PM tool. Create Project, Project Task entity types.
