How to enable notes

Hey guys. I'm a bit confused on how to notes entity works. I'm looking to create a field for an entity that has a array like structure of texts, where users can manually add multiple text entries, kind of like comments but independent from the automatic logs in streams. I saw that there was a notes feature that's quite similar to what I need? But I don't know where to enable it for an entity.

Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks

The Note entity type represents a record in the Stream. It can be a post or an action log entry. I don't recommend to repurpose this entity for any other need but to create a custom one.
