Filter Link Multiple field based on the value of another field

I have a link multiple field in the Contact record. I also have a field called "Type".

How can I filter the options in the link multiple field based on the value of the Type field?

For example, if Type = Student, filter the link multiple options by Criteria X. If Type = Teacher, filter the link multiple options by Criteria Y.
