call & case are sql syntax - change in database?

There are two tables in the database 'calls' and 'case'.
These two always create conflict when backing up as they are both SQL syntaxes. I changed calls & case table names & database backup worked fine.

What do the Espocrm developers think about this, should the names of these database tables be changed?

No, they should not. Nothing wrong to use these names. You need to fix/change your backup tool.
