Automatic template and view overriding

Having to to edit entity metadata for customizing views and templates it's pretty tiring... I wish there was an automatically loaded way to replace or extend views or templates for quick edits like a '/client/override/' folder working like custom does in php... Maybe this could be achieved by a php router or an htaccess rule, idk
