strategic element ids for dom testing

it would be very useful for front-end testing that involves navigating the DOM to put in some strategic element id's

For example, on the general list element or on the ... drop-down for search, just places where i can anchor my headless navigation

I know you generally want to avoid tying any styling to element id's, though, from a DOM navigation perspective, they are extremely useful
