Importing to products fails with server error 500

I can't import a CSV file of products, no matter what I do I just get error 500.
I've tried importing the file to the accounts DB and it works fine, but it will not work for products.

here is my sample csv:
"BrandID","Part Number","Name","List Price"
"Abbey","SF3-O-E",Swampfox PSC for IP or seial comms only","3345"
