Saying the external system name you use might also help. If you are new to programming it might be good idea to hire someone like emillod to help.

If they already have API system in place it just a matter to writing the correct "secret code" and URL name, will take time though.

What's the problem? You have to create integration which will fetch products from external database.

Edit: of course product database should have something like api/webhooks.
