Saving Large File Size Documents

I'd like to be able to upload a powerpoint in my documents section that is too large for the default settings due to embedded media. How would I go about doing that? I've seen the forum post about something being included in 4.5 to allow users to store documents in another service, but I could not find any documentation on how to do that. I have a limited number of large files and would be fine saving them saving them the same way as the other documents, but they timeout.
